The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs)
As an Art Therapy Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis with complex needs
- Assist with behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and communication
- Adapt activities and learning tasks to suit individual needs
- Implement behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO
- Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for all learners
- Help track student progress and contribute to personalised learning plans
Person Specification
- Degree essential – Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology, Childhood Studies or related field
- Experience supporting young people with SEN, behaviour needs, or disabilities (desirable)
- Strong communication, empathy, and resilience
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who have complex emotional or behavioural needs
- Calm, patient, and committed to helping pupils succeed
- Must have the right to work in the UK
