A well-established specialist SEN school in Newcastle is seeking a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time role offering invaluable experience working with pupils who require tailored support in a specialist setting.
The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help pupils regulate emotions, and assist them in accessing learning in a way that meets their individual needs.
You will play a key role in implementing behaviour support plans, delivering targeted interventions, and creating a safe, structured environment where pupils can develop both academically and emotionally.
This Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role is particularly well suited to graduates considering long-term careers in psychology, therapy, or specialist education, offering first-hand experience of inclusive and therapeutic practice.

Ideal Candidate – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
- Degree at 2:1 or above (Psychology, Education, or related subjects beneficial)

- Genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEN
- Previous SEN, care, or youth work experience is advantageous but not essential
- Must have the right to work in the UK
