Duties:
We are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join a highly experienced team at our client’s site in Tilbury. The role focuses on performing planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring optimal performance of the plant in line with health, safety, and quality standards, while driving improvements across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow site procedures related to quality, environmental, and health & safety systems.
- Continuously improve plant operations, processes, and the working environment, collaborating across departments.
- Assist in monitoring external contractors and ensuring compliance with site rules.
- Conduct regular plant inspections and audits.
- Respond quickly to unscheduled plant stoppages to minimize downtime.
- Utilise system for recording labor, materials, and performing planned maintenance tasks (PPM/PdM).
- Safely and efficiently repair plant equipment and services.
- Participate in maintaining the overall efficiency of the maintenance department, including tool management, housekeeping, and spare parts control.
- Be part of the maintenance call-out program.
- Diagnose and resolve plant/process defects using Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Work within budget guidelines and seek cost-reduction opportunities.
- Engage in and promote a Safety-First culture.
- Identify and pursue personal development and training opportunities.
- Share and implement best practices within a food manufacturing environment.
Candidate Requirements:
- A strong customer focus, with a flexible and adaptable approach.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, and be reliable and punctual.
- Essential: Health and Safety awareness.
- Desirable: Food Safety awareness.
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an operational environment (preferably FMCG, food, or beverage).
- Proficiency in computer use.
- A recognized engineering apprenticeship and formal qualification.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical drive couplings, chains, belts, and bearings.
- Experience with industrial 3-phase motor control systems and PLCs.
- Knowledge of pneumatic control systems, compressed air systems, and steam-raising plants.
