Job Type: Full Time

Duties:

Mechanical Engineer - High-Performance Engineering Environment

Location: Tamworth

Salary up to: 42k

We are seeking a highly capable, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering function responsible for maintaining critical mechanical assets and driving maximum uptime, safety, and operational performance.

This is not a passive maintenance role. You'll be at the forefront of engineering reliability - carrying out precision inspections, complex overhauls, and rapid fault diagnosis to keep essential equipment running at peak efficiency.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment where standards are high and engineering matters - this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Routine & Preventative Maintenance

  • Execute structured PPM schedules across mechanical systems and rotating equipment
  • Conduct detailed inspections of drives, braking systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, and assemblies
  • Identify wear, misalignment, fatigue, and failure risks before they impact operations
  • Validate and test mechanical safety systems and shutdown mechanisms
  • Calibrate and verify sensors, actuators, and control-integrated components
  • Ensure all assets remain safe, compliant, and fully operational

Major Overhauls & Engineering Projects

  • Lead full strip-downs, rebuilds, and mechanical refurbishments
  • Replace and overhaul critical components including bearings, axles, wheels, and mechanical interfaces
  • Carry out performance testing under load and simulated conditions
  • Work closely with OEMs and specialist contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Maintain strict adherence to engineering standards, regulatory compliance, and audit requirements

Breakdown Response & Fault Finding

  • Take ownership of rapid fault diagnosis and resolution
  • Troubleshoot across mechanical and control-linked systems
  • Deliver robust, right-first-time repairs using OEM-compliant components
  • Use operational data and insight to anticipate failures and reduce downtime

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work cross-functionally with electrical, controls, and operations teams
  • Support installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and apprentices

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a mechanically strong, solutions-driven engineer who takes pride in delivering high standards and keeping critical systems running.

You'll ideally have experience in:

  • Industrial or heavy mechanical maintenance environments
  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, motors, and braking systems
  • Fault finding, reliability engineering, and root cause analysis
  • Planned, reactive, and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Working within safety-critical or highly regulated environments

What You'll Get in Return

  • A technically challenging role with real responsibility and autonomy
  • Exposure to complex equipment and high-integrity systems
  • A structured yet varied workload across maintenance and overhaul activity
  • The support of a multi-disciplinary, high-performing engineering team
  • Ongoing training, development, and career progression

If you're an engineer who takes ownership, solves problems, and wants to make a tangible impact - we want to hear from you.
