STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant – About the Role
As a STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant you will be an integral part of their dynamic and dedicated STEM department. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Leading small group and 1-1 interventions for both high-performing students and those requiring catch-up support
- Designing and creating engaging teaching resources, revision materials, and visual aids tailored to different ability groups
- Supporting the class teacher during lessons, helping with classroom management, and ensuring all students remain on task and engaged
- Acting as a positive role model for pupils – demonstrating strong subject knowledge, professionalism, and a passion for learning
STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant – Candidate Specification
To be successful in this STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant tole you should demonstrate:
- A 2:1 or above in a STEM-related degree from a leading university (preferably Russell Group)
- Previous experience working with young people – e.g., tutoring, mentoring, youth work, teaching assistant roles, or summer schools (desirable)
- A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to take initiative and work independently
- Excellent communication skills – able to explain complex ideas clearly and confidently
