Design Manager – Tier 1 Civils & Infrastructure Contractor

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead technical delivery across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and water-sector projects. You’ll oversee internal engineering teams and external design consultants, ensuring high-quality, compliant and buildable design solutions that support safe and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design development from concept through to detailed design
- Manage multidisciplinary design teams and external partners
- Ensure all design work complies with relevant legislation, standards and client specifications
- Produce and manage design budgets, programmes and change control
- Oversee checking, verification and quality assurance of all engineering outputs
- Support early engagement, value engineering and design risk management
- Work closely with project, engineering, commercial and site teams across all project stages
Requirements
- Strong experience in design/design management within civils or infrastructure
- Experience in water, wastewater, pipelines or drainage
- Strong understanding of BIM
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Confident communicator with strong leadership and organisational skills
