Design Manager – Tier 1 Civils & Infrastructure Contractor

We're working with a major tier-one civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering some of the UK’s most significant water, transport and energy programmes. The Role

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead technical delivery across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and water-sector projects. You’ll oversee internal engineering teams and external design consultants, ensuring high-quality, compliant and buildable design solutions that support safe and efficient project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design development from concept through to detailed design
  • Manage multidisciplinary design teams and external partners
  • Ensure all design work complies with relevant legislation, standards and client specifications
  • Produce and manage design budgets, programmes and change control
  • Oversee checking, verification and quality assurance of all engineering outputs
  • Support early engagement, value engineering and design risk management
  • Work closely with project, engineering, commercial and site teams across all project stages

 

Requirements

  • Strong experience in design/design management within civils or infrastructure
  • Experience in water, wastewater, pipelines or drainage
  • Strong understanding of BIM
  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Confident communicator with strong leadership and organisational skills
