About the Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
- Competitive pay rate of up to £560 per week for the right Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
- Full-time, long-term Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role in Leeds
- Sociable working hours, Monday to Friday
- Support pupils across key stages 2-4 with profound and severe social, emotional and mental health needs
- Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to improve social and emotional skills and foster independence
- Collaborate with specialist teachers and support staff to create tailored strategies
- Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that prepares pupils for positive futures
- Gain valuable experience for careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or SEN support
- Team Teach training provided
What We Need from You as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant:
- A Psychology degree (2:1 or above)
- A passion for working with young people with complex needs
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently
- Skills in supporting positive behaviour management, interventions and reward systems
- Driving Licence advantageous but not essential
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with some of Leeds most complex and vulnerable young people to help them re-engage in learning and develop their social and emotional skills. Your psychology background will be invaluable in understanding and supporting pupils' needs. Your role will be pivotal in supporting pupils to achieve not only appropriate qualifications but also the life skills required to succeed after school.
The school places huge emphasis on professional development and invests heavily in staff training for each Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant. This means that, although experience of working in an SEN setting would be an advantage, specialist support and training will be provided for outstanding psychology graduates wishing to make their career in special education.
