HR & Training Manager

Salary: £34,000 to £37,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location: Newcastle-Under-Lyme

Job type: Permanent

Hours: 7am – 4pm (flexible working hours)

 

The Opportunity:

This is an excellent opportunity to provide a strategic, professional HR service that fosters a positive work environment and ensures compliance with HR legislation and best practices across both Manufacturing and Services Factory’s.

You will be required to coordinate and document all mandatory training to ensure services meet all legal and supplier requirements for food hygiene, food safety, and health and safety, supporting the organisations’ ‘audit ready every day’ philosophy.

 

Responsibilities:

HR

  • Overseeing the recruitment, selection and the onboarding process
  • Conducting right to work checks
  • Ensuring policies and practices are compliant with all current HR legislation and industry standards, contributing to ongoing policy review and updates as needed
  • Promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation
  • Dealing with staff issues regarding performance or attendance in a legally compliant and professional way
  • Handling any disciplinary or formal grievances in a professional and fair manner
  • Providing advice and support to the management team with regard to staff issues
  • Working with the Head of HR and any external agency to design and deliver the annual employee engagement survey, including developing our Culture and Engagement Strategy based on the survey results
  • Assisting with the communication throughout the organisation, this will include attending meetings, arranging, and delivering briefing sessions
  • Conducting occupational health referrals and providing pastoral support and advice to  employees
  • Ensuring consistent and compliant documentation for audits and HR reports
  • Collaborating with department managers to support workforce planning and employee development aligned with business objectives
  • Conducting twice yearly audits of recruitment agencies on our preferred supplier list
  • Enrolling all staff on all employee benefit schemes offered by the company

 

Responsible for the coordination of:

  • Food Safety level 2
  • HACCP Level 2
  • Health and Safety level 2
  • First Aid at Work
  • Food hygiene and food safety of all production operatives, team leaders, supervisors and  managers
  • Induction training

 

Documentation

  • Ensuring that all training information is up to date and accessible electronically
  • Design of training material
  • Preparing and presenting documentation at customers and supplier audits
  • Assisting in writing HR documents such as job descriptions when required
  • Assisting in reviewing and editing the staff handbook when required
  • Monitoring sickness absence
  • Filing personnel information in a GDPR compliant manner
  • Ensuring that computer-based records are kept up to date including electronic personnel files

 

Other Skills and Qualifications

  • A solid understanding of the key principles of employment law and codes of practice
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent
  • Excellent training design and delivery skills
  • Approachable
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen and effectively verbalise ideas
  • An ethical approach to all matters
  • Sound judgment
