Shift Electrician
Location: Cumbria
Salary: Starting Salary of 45k
Shift Pattern: Rotating Days & Nights (10 Days of straight per month with a 13 working days per months)

We are recruiting for a Shift Electrician to join a well-established paper manufacturing site with a strong engineering culture and a real focus on reliability.
This is an opportunity for a true engineer - someone who appreciates both legacy machinery and modern upgrades. This is not a highly automated, high-CAPEX environment where equipment is replaced at the first fault. Instead, this site believes in:

Shift Pattern & Overtime

Rotating days and nights
-
You will work an average of 13 shifts per month
-
Includes 10 consecutive days off every month

Key Responsibilities
-
Electrical maintenance support across production and site services
-
Fault finding and repair on a mix of ageing and upgraded equipment
-
Work on motors, drives, control panels, PLC-controlled systems
-
Participate in PPM and reactive maintenance
-
Support reliability improvements and root cause analysis
-
Contribute to small project work and plant modifications
-
Work collaboratively with mechanical engineers and operations teams
-
Maintain high safety standards in a heavy industrial environment
Engineering Environment
You will work across:
-
Paper manufacturing and converting machinery
-
Pumps, motors, gearboxes and conveyors
-
Variable speed drives (VSDs)
-
PLC systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley or similar)
-
Industrial control panels and instrumentation
-
Utilities including steam, compressed air and water systems
This is a hands-on industrial site where practical engineering ability is valued.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
-
Time-served Electrician / Electrical Engineer
-
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
-
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
-
Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
-
Strong electrical fault-finding skills
-
Experience with motors, inverters, control circuits and panels
-
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
-
Comfortable working shifts in a continuous production setting
Desirable Experience
-
Experience within paper manufacturing or continuous process industries
-
PLC fault-finding capability
-
Knowledge of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM)
-
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience
-
Instrumentation and calibration experience
-
Test & Inspection qualification
-
Experience improving and maintaining ageing plant assets
