Have you recently graduated from a Top 30 or Russell Group University and are hoping to secure a long-term position within a secondary school?

Perhaps you’re considering kickstarting a career in education but would like to ‘test the water’ to see if teaching is for you?

A progressive 6 FE secondary school in Tameside hopes to attract a Graduate Behaviour Mentor to assist in supporting students for whom behaviour has become an issue. Confident candidates are required, sports or coaching backgrounds are welcomed, and any experience managing groups of children will be beneficial to the successful applicant. While some students at this secondary school struggle with their attitude to learning and ability to follow direction, there are no instances of violence, and the successful candidate will be trained on effective strategies and methods to manage behaviour.

Graduate Behaviour Mentor role:

As a Graduate Behaviour Mentor you will assist classroom leaders in managing behaviour to allow students to continue with their academic progress free of disruptions or barriers. You will work closely with an inspiring inclusion department, learning about the various triggers and strategies for reengagement specific to the targeted learners you work with. You will work closely with students on a 1:1 basis and use your natural confidence and charisma alongside a tailored and well-researched plan to re-ignite curiosity and academic inquiry.

This Graduate Behaviour Mentor role is geared towards one child in particular, who’s behaviour has become a problem to the point that they are not engaged in lessons whatsoever. A personable, confident candidate with strong social skills and emotional intelligence is required in order to build a personal relationship with this child – winning their trust and re-engaging them into the national curriculum. This Graduate Behaviour Mentor role offers the opportunity to gain invaluable, hands-on experience that can then be applied to a plethora of education-adjacent fields.
