Are you a high-achieving graduate with a strong academic background in Religious Studies graduate, and a clear ambition to train as a teacher from September?
A respected and forward-thinking secondary school in Brent is seeking an ambitious Graduate Unqualified Religious Studies (RS) Teacher to join its Humanities department. This role is designed for high-calibre candidates who want to gain structured, hands-on classroom experience before progressing into a PGCE or other teacher training programme.
The Role
As a Graduate Unqualified RS Teacher, you will work closely with experienced teachers and department leaders to develop your teaching practice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering pre-planned Religious Studies lessons to KS3 and KS4 classes.
- Supporting students’ understanding of philosophical, ethical, and religious concepts.
- Leading small-group discussions and targeted interventions.
- Developing effective classroom management skills.
- Assisting with lesson preparation, marking, and assessment.
- Gaining valuable insight into curriculum planning and wider school life.
This position offers a realistic and supportive introduction to teaching, making it excellent preparation for formal teacher training.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who:
- Hold a 2:1 degree or above in Religious Studies, Philosophy, Theology, or a related field.
- Or have strong A-levels in Religious Studies, Philosophy, Ethics, or related subjects.
- Are committed to training as a teacher from September.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and academic confidence.
- Are professional, reflective, and eager to develop.
- Have experience working with young people (desirable but not essential).
